Millions upon billions of people take showers, this common activity is known around the world, there are two main groups, people who shower in hot water and people who shower in cold water. Both have positive and negative effects.

Showering in cold water is a pleasant temperature to cool you off, calm itchy skin, increases circulation, reduces muscle soreness post-workout, and etc.  There are more to these perks, showering in cold water could also improve your mental health by promoting emotional resilience, a study shows that cold shower can help a nervous system that is resilient to stress. It could also lower the chances of depression, it stimulates "the blue spot" in our brain which helps play a role in easing depression.
Yet, there is a negative effect, once the cold spray hits your body there is a bit of shock that could increase, oxygen intake, heart rate, and alertness.

Showering in hot water is a comforting way to relax, to end the day with or begin with. There are many hidden benefits of taking a simple hot shower. After a workout, a hot shower can ease up your muscles and relieve stress. Even better if your one of those people who struggle with a bit acne here and there, hot showers were made just for you! Hot steamy showers open up the pores of your skin and clean out the trapped oil in there. Hot and relaxing are not all of it, there are some cons to this enjoyable break. Hot showers may irritate and dry out the skins because it causes damage to the keratin cells which is the outermost layer of your skin. By disrupting these cells, creates dry skin locking in the moisture. Be careful! If you have problems with high blood pressure taking these showers at a hot temp can make these conditions worse.

Hot or Cold we still take our showers, many of your daily activities have hidden pros and cons. The obvious answer to know is both are very beneficial to your health physically and mentally. Since hot water is limited and cold water isn't. Is it worth waiting for your hot relaxing shower or an endless cold shower?

I personally find hot showers more relaxing any season of the year. Then again most say I can be immune to heat because I can touch the tip of a hot glue gun and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I feel the best way to avoid having to choose what temperature to set, is to maybe split the days of the week with hot and cold showers. Though I have heard that hot showers do make your hair more frizzy which has made me want to try to take cold showers, but in the end one can say I'm just a hot shower kind of gal.

Personally I don’t care either way. To me it’s simply a matter of getting used to the temperature. I often start with water that is not exactly hot or cold and slowly adjust the temperature based on how I’m feeling. However, I think cold showers are beneficial for the environment as heating up water requires more electricity.

Hot showers always even nice to me but I know that there are a lot of benefits to taking cold showers. I always enjoy that extra alertness I feel after taking a cold shower, even if the initial shock is discomforting.

I used to be on the side of cold showers, but nowadays I usually take hot showers because of acne and the fact that it put me in a good mood for the day. Regardless, if I couldn’t choose I wouldn’t really mind. Either way is fine. I can understand the benefits of both, but I just tend to go hot showers 99% of the time.

I am a hot shower kind of person. I like relaxing warmness on a cold day. However, I do want to try cold showers. I can never get over the initial shock of freezing water. I could definitely use a cold shower to stay awake and be more mentally prepared for the day.

Personally I take hot showers more often. It’s more relaxing and relieving for me at the end of the day. So since I always take showers at night it helps me relax and clam down for bed. Also the steam clears up sinus is so that’s a plus. But in the summer if its toooo hot ill do a cool shower because its you know texas. But this is really early interesting!!

Often I take really hot showers, but I didn’t realize how many differing benefits taking a hot or cold shower has. I would say cold showers might be more beneficial because it would save water and energy, since you won't be waiting for the water to heat up and your house won’t be extending additional energy to heat the water up.

I prefer warm showers because I’m just used to taking them, especially as it gets colder outside. This article will really make me think about my drier skin every time I take a particularly hot one though.

I like hot showers because I am always cold and I would rather be hot than cold. Hot showers are soothing, but sometimes I find myself melting in the shower. Cold showers remind me of cold weather; thus, I just avoid anything that will cause goosebumps to appear on my skin. However, I did not know cold showers can help with stress. This makes me want to switch over and give it a try.

Personally, I only take hot showers, especially given that they offer, in my opinion, far more benefits for far fewer cons than cold showers do, and, frankly, if you can handle the temperature of a cold shower, I both applaud you and fear you, because cold showers feel like death to me. In addition, as a soccer player, I prefer warm showers to cold ones as they better relax my muscles and are just generally more relaxing, especially after a game. Something I’ve never understood, in addition, when it comes to cold showers, is why people would take one to cool off. That seems odd to me and I could never do it. Hot showers are better, I rest my case!

I switch my preferences very often. I find that cold showers are very nice after workouts,in the mornings, or if I'm feeling nauseous, but hot shower are nice at night or when I'm cold. In general I switch the temperature in the middle of the shower because hot water is bad for hair, but good for your skin and hot and cold changes in water premites better blood flow and stronger immune systems. In general, I don't really like showers. They are just a waste of time and water so I try to take short showers.

Personally, I am a hot shower person especially during winter, but I never realized that the temperature of our showers impacted our mental and physical health as well. I’m extremely impressed by the mere impact a ten minute shower can have on our day, and am ready to reconsider the temperature of my shower on particular days of soreness or stress as well. This is something I suprisng,y never questioned and find fascinating.

I would prefer hot showers as I’m not much of a cold water person. However I would understand why athletes would take colder shows for mental and emotional resilience. I didn’t know that hot water affected keratin skin cells, so I will probably think twice about whether I should turn up the water that hot.

Something that I personally noticed is that a hot shower is very good at relaxing your muscles and mind after a long day of work. However, a cold shower is a good way and restoring your energy. When I take a cold shower, I come out feeling invigorated and motivated which is very useful especially at the beginning of the day.
